School Overview

The school uses the K12 online curriculum to offer students in grades K-12 and exceptional learning experience that allows students the ability to not come to school every day. Individual learning experiences are used to offer students the highest quality online learning.

Students may attend Massachusetts Virtual Academy because:

  • Good educators that are experienced, highly qualified, and Massachusetts licensed.

  • The engaging curriculum which covers all core subject areas and electives.

  • Online planning, assessment tools, resources, and hands on materials.

  • An active and supportive school community that organizes fun activities.

  • A high quality tuition free online public education.

  • Face to face instruction options and extracurricular school program participation.

MAVA works with families toward a positive attendance record to meet the number of instructional hours required as part of the program:

  • 425 hours for Kindergarten

  • 900 hours for grades 1-8.

  • The nature of an online school is flexible in terms of the time of day when students participate; however, there is a management system for taking daily attendance and coordinating hours of school work completed. In this way, the virtual school and its students can have accountability for each student's participation in order to meet state guidelines for course accomplishment.
